Anyone else ready for 2015 to end and 2016 to begin? Close one door, and open another? I will happily continue to nurture the relationships, ideas, and aspirations from 2015, but in other ways I need a fresh start. I recently left a job that I had committed myself to this past year, and I’m recovering from a stubborn respiratory infection that knocked me down early last week, just in time for Christmas.
So let’s be real. Although we are showered with many blessings and joyful memories in December, it also seems to be the height of cold/flu season this year. And so how do we heal in the midst of family gatherings, busy schedules, and the pressure of New Year’s resolutions?
Obviously, sleep, and a cup of tea will do us good, but I am sharing another recipe for recovery. Hopefully, you don’t need it, but if/when you do, you’ll be prepared!
Super Throat Soother
Adapted from here
1 tbsp liquid organic extra virgin coconut oil
1 tbsp raw wildflower honey, preferably local and organic
2 tbsp fresh lemon juice, room temperature
¼ tsp ground Ceylon cinnamon
Whisk together everything and store at room temperature for up to 24 hours. For longer storage, refrigerate and rewarm before taking again. Otherwise, oil will be solid.
Take 1 tbsp every 4-6 hours to help alleviate cold and flu symptoms.
*This should not replace other self-care for illnesses. Sleep, eliminating sugar, steam, and hydrotherapy will also help speed recovery.
These juices are another great cold and flu fighter!
