Creamy Dreamy Green Smoothie

This drink is seriously my go-to  breakfast or lunch energizer if my body is craving some extra greens. It tastes indulgent – the avocado, frozen banana and ice give it a thick creamy consistency. Also, the banana adds just enough sweetness to prevent it from tasting too green. If you are a fan of coconut milk or want to avoid nuts, it’s a great substitute for the almond milk. Sometimes I will add nut butter instead of avocado to change it up a bit. A word of advice: finish this smoothie within 15 min. of blending it or it will have a strange aftertaste (all green drinks should be consumed ASAP!) Now get to the kitchen and whip up this super nutritious pick-me-up. Best part, it takes 5 minutes and there are barely any dishes!

Creamy Dreamy Green Smoothie

(Raw, Vegan, Gluten-free)

Makes about 1 16 oz. smoothie

A couple handfuls of greens: collard, spinach, chard, kale, red leaf, or any other green (Keep in mind that kale especially lacinato can be bitter and overpowering so it’s best to mix with other greens or only use a couple leaves)

1 frozen banana

¼ avocado (This is just enough to add creaminess, if you use anymore than this you will taste avocado. Sometimes I use 1-2 tbsp almond butter or tahini instead if I want something lighter)

½ unsweetened nut milk

1 c ice

Splash of vanilla extract

Put everything in your Vitamix and using the tamper, blend on high speed until smooth and creamy
